VEX Robotics Technician

Responsibilities

Robotics System Assembly and Integration

  • Assemble and integrate VEX Robotics systems according to design specifications.
  • Install motors, sensors, controllers, and other electronic components onto robotic platforms.
  • Ensure proper wiring and connections for seamless operation.

Testing and Debugging

  • Conduct rigorous testing procedures to evaluate the performance and functionality of robotic systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to mechanical, electrical, or software components.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement solutions and improvements.

Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep robotic systems in optimal condition.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions or damages promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities for future reference.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the reliability and safety of robotic systems.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Recommend enhancements or modifications to improve performance and efficiency.

Training and Support

  • Provide training and technical support to students alongside our coaches
  • Develop instructional materials and resources for workshops, seminars, and educational events.
  • Offer guidance and assistance to users encountering difficulties with VEX Robotics systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in building and programming VEX Robotics systems, including familiarity with VEX IQ and VEX V5 platforms, this is ideal experience but not essential if you are willing to learn
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • Strong knowledge of robotics principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in robotics competition environments (e.g., VEX Robotics Competition, FIRST Robotics Competition).
  • Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in robotics (e.g., C++, Python, Java).
  • Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, and other rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Certification in robotics or related fields.

Working Conditions

  • The role may involve occasional travel to attend robotics competitions, conferences, or training events.
  • Work may require occasional lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
  • Flexible working hours may be necessary to accommodate project deadlines or urgent repair tasks.

Salary

  • We offer a very generous salary for this full time role, working hours are from 8:00 – 17:00 Monday to Saturday in Phra Khanong/Ekkamai, Bangkok.
  • Note, there are very good holidays for this role (usual Thai holidays + 42 days of annual leave) as well as some flexible working hours on Fridays that can be discussed at interview.
