Edward’s VEX Robotics Journey at Steam Labs

Edward has just completed three outstanding seasons of VEX V5 with Steam Labs and has been awarded a full scholarship that will support him through to high school graduation. His journey began in Year 7, when he became the youngest student in Thailand to compete in the VEX V5 division—starting out as a one-person team. Despite the challenge, Edward had a remarkable first season, designing a high-quality robot that stood out in competition.

In his second year, he teamed up with two other students, and together they engineered a highly competitive robot that earned them the Create Award at the Thailand National Championship.

In 2025, Edward reached new heights—qualifying for the VEX Robotics World Championship after securing the Excellence Award, Tournament Champion, and Robot Skills Champion titles at Thailand Nationals. This incredible achievement, often referred to as the “Triple Crown”, is one of the highest honors in VEX Robotics.

His success didn’t end there. Earlier in the 2025 season, he won the Judges Award at the opening tournament and later added another Tournament Champion title at the prestigious Thailand Cup, hosted by RATF in February 2025.

In addition to his competition success, Edward has also contributed to our team through a paid internship over the past year—demonstrating leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to the Steam Labs community. In recognition of his accomplishments and dedication, he has now been awarded a full scholarship.

Neo’s Remarkable VEX Robotics Journey at Steam Labs

Neo has been with Steam Labs since the very beginning, joining as a student over five years ago. His dedication, resilience, and passion for robotics have led him to qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championships three times—a truly exceptional accomplishment.

Neo’s journey is especially unique. He began his robotics experience with us during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, starting with online programming classes. When VEX V5 season began, he and his two teammates—Proud and Khun—took on the incredible challenge of competing entirely online for the first six months of the season. Steam Labs sent each student a full VEX V5 competition kit to work with at home, and together, they designed, built, and tested their robots remotely—refusing to let the pandemic hold them back.

Their determination paid off. In their first year, Neo’s team earned the Robot Skills Champion title and the Excellence Award at the Thailand Nationals, securing their first qualification to the VEX Robotics World Championships. The following season, they repeated their success, once again winning the Excellence Award and earning a second consecutive Worlds qualification.

In 2025, Neo formed a new team and qualified once again for the World Championships, marking his third time representing Thailand on the global stage.

Beyond competitions, Neo has been awarded a full scholarship at Steam Labs for the past two years and has also taken on a paid internship as a student coach, mentoring younger students in engineering, programming, and team leadership. Most notably, Neo was selected to speak at the BETT Asia conference, where he shared his inspiring journey with educators and industry professionals from across the region.

Neo is a rising star and a role model within our community. We are incredibly proud to support his continued growth and are committed to helping shape his future in engineering and innovation.
